The QE Class aircraft carriers will be the biggest and most powerful surface warships ever constructed for the Royal Navy and will represent a step change in capability, enabling the delivery of increased strategic effect and influence around the world.

Some of the biggest shipbuilders in UK are involved in the construction of this warship including A&P Tyne, BAE Clyde and Portsmouth, Babcock and Cammell Laird.

The various sections of the ship are transported to Rosyth on barges weighing up to 11,000 tonnes making this the largest engineering project in Britain.

Working with Cammell Laird; Tufcoat have supplied and installed nearly 2000m² of shrink wrap for 7 sections to date with a further 1200m² planned.

The shrink wrap encapsulation was used to protect the underside of each section as well as bays and open doorways during the transportation from Merseyside to Rosyth, specifically on CB02 sections a skirt was installed to protect the open areas of each module whilst the larger CB04 sections had entire undersides covered with 620m² of shrink wrap.
