Milestone Project: Foreign and Commonwealth Office, London

We’re showcasing some of our favourite milestone projects to celebrate 21 years in business starting with using printed shrink wrap for heritage restoration.

Printed Shrink Wrap for Heritage Restoration

Within this Grade 1 Listed building, stands the Grand Staircase, a spectacle in its own right with a gilded ceiling and Sigismund Goetze murals surrounding the imperial staircase.

The area was being renovated by Interserve, following the identification of cracks in the ceiling and Tufcoat were brought in by Coventry Scaffolding to blend the scaffolding in with the interior whilst causing as little disruption as possible.

“This project made the shortlist quite simply because of the prestigious location and the challenges overcome. The complexity of the artwork requiring multiple perspectives, combined with the volume of high-profile figures regularly using the staircase and the significance of the conservation, meant we really had to push the creative and application boundaries of printed shrink-wrap.”
