Construction Screens keep Vantage Data Centre on track

Glencar projectIn early 2024, Tufcoat was approached by building contractor Glencar to support the construction of the new LHR21 data centre in Acton, near Heathrow Airport. This impressive 194,000 sq ft, six-storey facility will house cutting-edge data processing equipment, serving various businesses and enterprises.

Glencar needed our help with shrink-wrap construction screens for several floors of the building. One side of the structure was delayed due to shared access requirements, pushing back the cladding installation. Glencar’s objective was simple: they wanted a weatherproofing solution that would allow the internal fit-out to begin without delay, keeping everything moving smoothly and on schedule.

We began installing our shrink-wrap solution in April 2024, over five floors and five phases, finishing in June. In total, over 3000m2 of our construction screen was used.

As always, our team remained flexible and adaptive throughout the process, responding to changing timelines around the cladding installation. Additionally, we had to contend with some extremely windy conditions during installation, particularly on the higher levels.

Despite these challenges, Tufcoat delivered the project on time, allowing Glencar to move forward with the internal works as planned. Glencar was particularly pleased with our commitment to health and safety. Our team made sure dust was minimised using vacuums on drills and carried out the work wearing first-rate PPE, a standard we maintain on all of our projects.
