Vehicles

Road Transport

Even where a vehicle that requires protection incorporates a cab, it can still be wrapped. The vehicle is wrapped as if for being driven, but before the shrink wrap is shrunk tight, cut-outs are made for doors, windows and lights. Where a large cut-out is needed, for example around a windscreen, the shrink wrap is taped onto the vehicle using a waterproof tape meaning that the rest of the vehicle remains 100% protected.

Where vehicles will be in transit for some time, it is good practice to enable any moisture to escape. Where voids exist underneath the cover, desiccant sacks are very effective. Alternatively, self-adhesive vents can be fitted to ensure a cross-flow of air beneath the cover.

When a vehicle arrives at its destination, the shrinkwrap is easy to remove and recycle. The shrinkwrap will only stick to itself and not the item being protected, so the cover can simply be cut off. A safety knife can be left in the vehicle to be used for this purpose and prevent the vehicle being accidentally damaged when the cover is removed.

Tufcoat specialise in the protection of large and awkward objects. We provide a full installation service but can also provide on-site training, tailored to your specific product, to allow this work to be done 'in-house'.
