Application Notes #5...

Vehicles

Using industrial grade shrink wrap for vehicles results in a moulded covering, 'as tight as a drum skin' and provides peace of mind that the product will reach the customer in the same condition it left the factory.

Shrink wrap is ideal for protecting vehicles since it can not flap or chafe, so it is very durable at motorway wind speeds. Availability of film widths up to 12m wide means that even the largest vehicle can be covered in a single sheet.

Vehicles destined for overseas as possible deck cargo are at risk of damage due to extended exposure to salt spray and carbon deposits from the ship's funnel.

Wrapping a vehicle is most straightforward when that vehicle does not have to be driven afterwards. This total encapsulation method is most common for smaller vehicles.

Where vehicles need to be driven, shrink wrap can be unfolded over the roof and draped down the sides before taping under the vehicle and around wheel arches before being shrunk tight.

Zip doors can be installed over vital hatches and doors so that customs can gain access without damaging the cover.
