Application Notes #4...

Offsite Construction

Why shrink wrap?

A shrink wrap cover moulds to the object it is protecting, so it cannot flap or chafe, even at high wind speeds. This tightness is the secret of the strength and durability of shrink wrap.

What is the alternative?

Traditional tarpaulins or custom made covers are commonly used, but these are loose sheet systems and are nearly impossible to fit tightly. The result is that they may flap around so much that they self destruct and are b lown off the product completely.

Meanwhile, more costly re-usable or returnable covers require increasing levels of maintenance, and may not return in good time, if at all, to be used again.

The Podbag™

The podbag was developed in response to requests for a quick and efficient way of protecting modules and pods during delivery from the factory to construction site.

The pre-formed shrink wrap bag is simply dropped over the module or pod, and is ready for heat shrinking immediately. Using Podbags enables the packaging process to be highly consistent.

To assist with fitting, each Podbag is fitted with lifting loops, one at each corner of the 'roof'. Using an overhead crane, the bag can simply be lowered straight down over the module, eliminating any working from height.

Podbags are easily branded with logos or text and can be fitted with a zipped access door or air vents if required.
