Application Notes #1 (cont.)...

Scaffolding shrink wrap for containment & protection

Installation method

1. Assess the size of the individual sheeting pane to be fixed. We recommend no more than 12m x 12m 'panes' are used without securing to the scaffold to ensure good wind and storm resistance.

2. Hang the sheet over the top scaffolding tube and temporarily clamp this in place using a Tufclip. Clamp again at the bottom tube.

3. The sheet is now ready to be permanently fixed. Fold back the excess shrink-film and heat-weld to the clamped shrink-film by heating both surfaces and pressing them together with an insulated gloved hand so that they bond together.

4. Once welded over the scaffold tube at top and bottom, the operative repeats the procedure progressively around the scaffold, welding the seam overlaps both vertically and horizontally.

5. Once fully welded and sealed, the shrink wrap sheet is then heated over its surface area to tighten it up. When carried out correctly, the sheet takes on the appearance of a glazed surface that is as tight as a drum.

Should it be necessary to gain access through the structure (such as for craneage), the shrink wrap film can be cut open and resealed afterwards to reinstate a 100% seal.

Removal & Recycling

To remove the shrink wrap, it is simply cut from the scaffold with a sharp knife and is completely recyclable.
